Our History


  1. RBA established as Georgia’s first IVF program

  2. RBA produces Georgia’s first IVF birth.

  3. A pregnancy from a frozen embryo
    RBA is one of the first three IVF programs in the United States, the first on the East Coast, to achieve a pregnancy from a frozen embryo.

  4. First IVF birth in the world using partial zona dissection or PZD
    RBA was the first IVF program in the world to report a baby born with the aid of a micromanipulation technique known as partial zona dissection or PZD.

  5. 300th IVF Birth

    One of the first IVF centres with testicular sperm aspiration success
    RBA was one of the first IVF centers in the U.S. to report success with sperm retrieved through testicular sperm aspiration (MESA/TESE).

  6. First birth in Georgia using a gestational carrier
    RBA reported the first birth in Georgia using a gestational carrier.

    First anonymous egg donation program in Georgia
    RBA established the first anonymous oocyte (egg) donation program in Georgia. Today, the program is one of the largest in the Southeast.

  7. First U.S. birth through intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI)
    RBA became the first IVF program in the U.S. to achieve a pregnancy and birth through intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI).

  8. First U.S. pregnancy with the aid of Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD)
    RBA was the first IVF program in the Southeast to achieve a pregnancy with the aid of Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD).

  9. First births from frozen donor eggs
    RBA reported the first births in the Western Hemisphere from frozen donor eggs.

  10. First U.S. clinic to introduce Lysed Cell Removal
    RBA was the first clinic in the U.S. to introduce Lysed Cell Removal, an IVF technique which contributes to increased frozen pregnancy rates.

  11. First clinic to utilize PGD on frozen thawed embryos
    RBA was the first clinic in the world, to utilize PGD on frozen thawed embryos, both on live and lysed cells.

  12. Routine aneuploidy screening
    RBA introduced routine aneuploidy screening in young (<35 years) infertile patients, both for diagnostic and treatment purposes.

    RBA develops highly successful Egg Vitrification (freezing technique).
    We started to perform vitrification in 2005 – experimentally. We introduced vitrification to the clinical routine in 2006 (for donor egg cryopreservation), and in 2007 started to use vitrification also for embryo cryopreservation.

  13. Fertility Preservation Services
    RBA began offering Fertility Preservation Services for women up the age of 38 who desire to freeze their eggs. Pregnancy success rates are age-dependent and equal to our current fresh cycle pregnancy rates.

    RBA creates World’s Largest Frozen Donor Egg Bank.
